Cameron Harvey

My paintings walk the line between abstraction and realism, exploring close-up views of minuscule, overlooked events. I draw attention to the microscopic happenings in biology that result in life on earth. Gesture, color and the tension between chaos and order, and the real and imagined, are the tools I use to create my paintings. I often work from images of the inside of the body or from still lives I create, focusing on the event I chose to depict. I make paintings that describe the hopeful uncertainty, anxiety, and reproductive energy that drive the human experience.
